I am a simple homemaker, with a blissful family, comprising my two lovely kids Aditya and Ayontika and my ever-supportive husband (AN from now on in this blog). Although I left my career as an Editor and writer for a food-processing-based journal in 2007 (the year when my son was born) to enjoy motherhood to its epitome, the inner “me” could not be satisfied with just that.
This was the time when I actually learnt the nuances in cooking. My bookshelves started filling up with cookbooks, old and new, from all over the world and I cannot express how de-stressed I used to feel at the end of the day looking at my collection and going through the same. Moreover, I never missed a single cookery show on TV and the kitchen was my laboratory. Sometimes, the end-product would turn out to be something else than I expected. But I was not deterred by that; I kept on trying until I succeeded. Soon I started receiving applauses for my culinary skills from family and friends. My husband has always been my best critic in this matter. He would give marks on a scale of 10 on every dish I used to prepare. And all that triggered me to go beyond my kitchen walls.
About Blog
So I gave birth to my third “baby”, Cosmopolitan Currymania, arising from my love for food, writing and photography. This blog gives me a feel of being reincarnated: this is my life’s journey with my passion.
Cosmopolitan Currymania is rated as Hong Kong's one of the top expat blogs according to the website Hong Kong Blogs Review.
Welcome to my virtual kitchen! My recipes displayed here would mostly be my own recipes, metamorphosis of recipes from old magazines and cookbooks and revival of “endangered” Indian recipes. The photographs published in this blog will be either clicked by AN or by me, unless otherwise stated.
I am here to bring in to your palate not just Indian recipes tailor-made to suit global tastebuds, but a lot about the diverse Indian food culture as well, which I’m sure my readers will find very interesting! Based at Hong Kong , I have ready access to various Chinese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese ingredients: so you will see a lot of innovative “fusion” foods too!
Being creative with food is my USP. The speciality in all my upcoming recipes will be the amount of each ingredient used, which I believe, makes a lot of difference in cooking. I am also going to include restaurant reviews and latest research on food. All in all, “Cosmopolitan Currymania” is going to be a learning-based food journey for both you and me. Bon Appetit!
